Remember earlier this year when I wrote about kittens appearing at work? Well now we have a cat hanging around the office instead of kittens!
There's a black cat that we've been seeing around the building for the past week or two. It's quite friendly in fact this morning one of the girls from Van Horn in the building behind us had to shoo it away as she came in the door! Shortly after that, it jumped up on the outside windowsill of my co-worker Milan's office. It pawed at the window and meowed at him, so he opened the window a little and petted it. It stuck around for a while after that meowing to come in, until somebody opened Van Horn's door and it got excited that it could come in there.
My co-worker Mike went out to get lunch today, and he said he had to buy dog food anyway so he actually brought in a bag of cat food! Milan put some on a plate and took it outside to the cat, who's currently munching on it underneath an old sign up against the building.
We're not sure if the cat has an owner, since it's not wearing a collar or tags or anything. It can't just be a wild one since it's so friendly with people. This morning we were talking about letting it in to see how long it took anyone else to notice. At lunchtime a bunch of us tried to convince the boss that we need an office cat, but his response was "No way!" I think it'd be fun to have a cat around at work, it would probably curl up and sleep somewhere or sit on our laps or something. But it looks like that won't happen, so maybe we'll just have an outdoor cat at work... we will if Milan keeps feeding it I'm sure!
